Epic Sarcophagus

Well another epic behind me. One of many I have had over the past 3 years. Myself and Lynn decided on Wednesday to organize a day of climbing, just the two of us in Glendalough. Weather forecast was looking good with favorable winds. On Friday all that changed with forecast was showers throughout the day, but we felt lucky and decided to take our chances. Lynn suggested we might give a Sarcophagus a go. A beautiful although challenging climb that I kept hearing about over the past few years, ever we started to go climbing outdoors. I never had an opportunity to give it a go and from everything I had heard I was not sure whether I was ready to attempt this one. With the weather to be changeable all day I thought it would be the one climb that would not be too affected by rain if we were lucky.

A Newbie One Year On...

One year on and boy what a year. I just wanna pay hommage to all those climbers i've met along the way.  After a chance meeting with a young, er Pat Doyle a year ago who got me hooked on the drug and introduced me to Savage Craic, it's just snowballed from there to one of the most memorable years of my life. You've alot to answer for Pat.!!!

Further Details for Saturday

This Saturday's hill walk will concentrate on night navigation so be sure to bring YOUR SILVA COMPASS and YOUR OS NO. 56 MAP.  There will be approximately 5hrs of walking involved across the two days (Saturday and Sunday) so PACK LIGHT.  Seriously consider the weight of every item you are bringing and consider whether it is absolutely essential kit.  We will SHARE cooking equipment (pots, burners etc) so please get in touch with others and decide who will bring what.  Also, we will bring an absolute maximum of ONE tent per couple, so please arrange a partner for this.  We also need to CARPOOL, so again please get in touch so that we can ensure everyone gets a lift and we don't have to leave too many cars at the starting point.  If you are considering bringing alcohol a hip flask is advised as anything else wil probably be too heavy.

We will meet at 5pm on Saturday evening in Hollywood at the carpark outside the Post Office.

If anyone has any queries on what to bring, who to partner up with, who to car pool with or what to have for breakfast tomorrow morning please phone Jimmi, he's free to take calls all day tomorrow and indeed on Saturday before we set off and lord know he loves a good phone chat!
